Hourglass

Sunday mornin’ rolls around, and I’m still on the lam

I can tell what day it is, but I can’t say where I am

I know I’ve been here before, with another fella’s name

Everyone’s a stranger, but I still look the same

Street lamps stash the shadows, but they expose some, too

Ridin’ incognito, survivin’ every clue

Stumblin’ through the vestiges, I lost track of the day

A band showed up and cornered me, but didn’t come to play

Oh, Oh

This dog bites right to bone

I’ll only make it out of here if I make this place my home

Oh, Oh

I can’t pass time on my own

I’m shackled to the hourglass and the hollow sand and stone

All the boys love the noise of other peoples’ pain

Take away their dignity and they all act the same

Just like school, they act the fool, like children in disguise

Following their principals and the leaders of the flies
